While the terms are often used interchangeably, at Zales, custom jewelry means using online tools where you can select from various components, including stone type and size, setting style, accent stones, engraving and other select details to create a “custom designed” ring. Personalized jewelry means that the basic design of piece does not change, however engraving, photography, birthstones or gemstones can be added to create a “personalized” style. 

While our design tools are meant for online use, our Jewelry Experts can assist you both online and in-store with your custom or personalized design as well. They can order your custom or personalized jewelry design to be delivered to the store for free for pick-up. We also have a Custom-design-services jewelry design option if you have a design already in mind

Some styles may be returned, however, certain custom and personalized styles and styles with engraving may not be returned. Be sure your engraved messaging is correct before submitting. Custom-from-Scratch jewelry styles cannot be returned.
