Sapphire and 1/10 CT. T.W. Diamond Clover Ring in 10K White Gold
beautiful, but. . .
I fell in love with this ring online - but I used to work in jewelry and know that when something is "online only" there's usually a reason. The price was excellent though, so I took a dive and purchased. My worry was mostly about the diamonds - I've seen really bad, "rock salt" accent diamonds and how they can ruin a ring. So imagine my surprise when I received the ring and the diamonds aren't the problem. In fact, they look surprisingly sparkly! It's the sapphires are the disappointment. In regular light the gems are very dark blue. They do sparkle and look nice - but are almost opaque. That's fine. But in good light (especially when I walked into a Zales to get the ring sized), all four stones are a different shade of blue and one of the gems has a significantly sized flaw (a large inclusion). If they sold this under the counter, it'd get passed by because the gemstones don't match the quality standard of other case pieces.
Despite this, I'm keeping my ring - the setting is unique, the diamonds are pretty, and I plan to save up to replace the sapphires eventually with a lighter colored (better quality) gemstone.
